Hi Rachel πŸ™‚ it has been ages since I have had a chance to pop over for a visit so I’m looking forward to catching up tonight πŸ™‚ we are very low key with our valentine celebrations to. The kids love to make handmade cards and we bake some goodies for a special little lunch we have with my mom but hubby and I don’t go over the top with anything extra special. We know how much we love each other as we tell each other all the time *grin* and sometimes he’ll surprise me with flowers but most of the time we just treat it as any other day πŸ™‚ Love those little hearts in the first pic. Reminds me of some of the ones being made around here lately! Hugs

How did you make the envelopes? Did you have a template? They are such a fantastic way to make use of an old calendar!

We tend to be low key around here too. This is the first time both kids are away so I sent them cards. Love the envelope!!

  4. i love the watercolour hearts mobile!! isn’t it great what you can do with an embroidery hoop and a some string?

I am a huge fan of Valentines! I already have plans to make chocolate turtles with homemade caramel creme, but upon seeing your bread link I will be adding that to my list too.Raspberries are my husband’s favorite fruit so how can I not bake him a loaf? Have a great day!

I love Valentines Day. My husband and I don’t do gifts for holidays for each other but I love baking sweets and making little Valentines with and for my Children. I love making a little something for my friends as well, like cookies left on their doorsteps or something crafty and fun.

Dave asked me to marry him on Valentine’s Day 1999. He didn’t ask because it was V-day, but because that happened to be the weekend he drove to see me (We lived in two different states at the time). Each year he gives me tulips to mark the years together. It is very sweet, but not something required. I love doing and making things with the kiddos. Some years we sent a family valentines (truly a xmas card that finally came together). I loved that.

What lovely ways to say, “I love you.”

  10. Wow. You know how to celebrate Valentine’s day. I have to say that my personal favorites were the little heart valentines in the first photo. They tickled my heart!!

    Blessings, Debbie

  11. We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day ourselves, but I certainly love the sentiments behind the celebration. We were in the States one year during Valentine’s day and it seemed to be a lot of fun and widely celebrated. Whatever you do, have a gorgeous time with your lovely family. Jacinta x

I’d like a slice of that lemon loaf please! Have a great weekend.

My youngest keeps asking if he can have a day off school so that all those valentine cards can be made. I keep reminding him that he has the weekend! πŸ™‚ Some years we decorate with homemade things and make cookies and have presents while other years it might just be a special dessert and homemade cards for each other. I think this year is one of the latter. Do you have a recipe for that lovely lemon & raspberry bread?

    • Rachel says:

Well despite my big talking we might end up that way, too. Our day off ended up as a sick day. Too bad.
The link for the recipe is right under the photo (the title is the link). πŸ™‚

One tradition I like to carry on from my childhood is to write “this is what I love about you” Valentine’s cards for my kiddos and Matt, too:) We celebrate simply and sweetly here!

One question: what is your recipe for fondue??? I am thinking this has got to be added to our Valentine’s traditions!
