  1. Hi Rachel! Monsters are a good idea! I was actually inspired by your Ocean Rae to knit one for myself as well. I like the idea of finishing it off in a different colour! off now to check that Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief, sounds intriguing! have a lovely day!

Beautiful yarn ๐Ÿ™‚ I do not know if I could control myself in a yarn store. The shawl pattern is perfect for that yarn!!!

  3. Melissa says:

Isn’t Malabrigo amazing! I call it yarn crack. It will make a gorgeous shawl.

  4. Taryn Oakley says:

I am knitting with Malabrigo right now too. So luxurious! I knitted the Harold monster out of that book for Finn for Valentines. So cute, but figuring out the toes was sort of a nightmare…. but I was happy with it in the end. Happy Monster knitting!

  5. love the yarn! i think it’ll look awesome as that shawl.

Sometimes yarn slips just happen. At least the new yarn isn’t buried in the stash – it is being loved and used. I just packed upt he monster book. I kinda wish I left it out. I think my kiddos need a few monsters right about now.

  7. PKJ says:

oh, who could resist that yarn? I’m sure it will look just lovely.

and what a fun project, little monsters.

I love the monster book, I have had a copy for ages but only recently started knitting a monster from it!

  12. Tracey says:

Oh, such pretty yarn and I wouldn’t have left it in the store either!
    xx

  13. I love the blues and greens of that yarn – I’m a sucker for blue and green. Trees and sky. ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. Stacy says:

I knit bunny nuggets and started a monster from the big book of monsters but never realized that they were designed by the same person! Your yarn is beautiful!!!

  15. steph says:

gosh that yarn is gorgeous. It really didn’t need to live in the yarn shop. It’s much happier with you!

  16. meghann says:

Oh, look at those monsters! I remember you knit the free ones last year – you inspired me to print off the patterns for myself, but that’s as far as I got. (Sadly, I don’t think I’ll get to them this year, either. Maybe next yearโ€ฆ)

That yarn is beautiful. I wouldn’t have been able to resist it, either. xo

  17. Katrina says:

I am surprised you came out with only 1 ball of wool! Malabrigo is so yummy! The colors are amazing– I can’t wait to see the finished FO.

  18. Wendy says:

I’m diligently fighting to keep knitting from my stash rather than buy yarn.

A tall stack of library books is such a wonderful treat!

  19. Angela says:

Love that malabrigo sock yarn. You know I can never remember my stash either. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can’t wait to see the shawl, Rachel. It looks to me like a fairly straightforword, can-work-on-at-Knit-Night kind of pattern.

The Monster Book looked really cute when I flipped through a friend’s copy.

  21. This is going to be beautiful in this color!

  22. lori says:

haha, love stacks of books that high! and i love that beautiful blue too, what a lovely shawl it will make.
