agreed. Though this drafty house of ours lets us know whenever the cold does hit. We have a wood stove which at least gives the illusion of winter and encourages a bit of snuggliness.

We cut and stacked wood all summer to use in the woodstove, I knit hats, gloves, scarves and cowls and gave them to everyone I know for Christmas gifts…I jinxed myself! Yes, I want WINTER! There is something about the temperature being 76 degrees on the first day of Februrary that is just so very wrong!

  3. Ditto. You definitely summed it up well. It scares me just a bit. I remember saying the same thing last year… How can I welcome spring if we haven’t had winter. Then, after saying that, we had a slow to arrive spring and a garden that was late producing… What’s happening??

    Blessings, Debbie

I would love just a couple cold days, but alas we are moving right along. I can feel the days getting warmer brining with them the slight changes we call sping.

  5. yes, i miss winter too! we waited until the end of january to have snow. now it has been and still will be super cold for a few days and we’re hoping for some more snow tomorrow.
i’m afraid that’s what “we” have done to our earth. i do hope the seasons remain intact enough for us to enjoy them in the next years! winter without cold and snow is no winter! and i cannot look forward to spring either if i haven’t had a proper winter.

I am indifferent this year. Since I am stuck inside most of the day with a new baby the warm days make it easy to get out, but something is to be said for bundling up for a family walk in the snow…

  7. Jennifer says:

Truth be told, I am grateful for the forgiving weather. I use my feet to get to and from work, so I appreciate that I only have to bundle up against -7 instead of -27 (or -37, gulp!). I have a feeling though, that winter may show his face again before spring makes her appearance.

We’ve lost winter too. I’m not even a winter lover, and I miss it. I’m also terrified for what this could do to our trees, and other plants that need a good freeze.
I’ll tell you what I don’t miss though, and that’s slush, and dirty piles of plowed snow sitting in parking lots and on street curbs and sidewalks!

I am missing winter! It was almost sixty degrees two days ago-crazy!! I have my fingers crossed that we might get some snow at some point. Not in April though.

  10. Apseed says:

We didn’t not get snow in December and the temperatures were mild. But now, I’m so proud to say it, we have the real winter with a lot of snow and -20 C.
Trying to enjoy every winter moment.

“I can’t believe I’m saying it but what happened to winter?”…amen to that. I don’t feel like I got the satisfying ‘winter’ experience. Hopefully sometime during the next six weeks winter will show up just for another few days. 🙂

I agree with missing winter (as crazy as that sounds). I certainly don’t like driving in, traveling in, shoveling snow and ice, but I do miss the things you mentioned. It’s unusual, but it’s not unheard of. I just looked for some historical data for temps (found one for New York Central Park from 1876 to present). Lots of interesting fluctuations there.

We’ve had a really mild winter so far to. Although we don’t get a ton of snow ever we usually get more than we’ve had this year. So much for the ‘coldest winter ever’ they were forecasting in the fall LOL. It’s been warmer than last winter and I didn’t think that was possible.
